SGM Sharita N. Onugha joined the Army’s Delayed Entry Program in January 1996 and began her active duty status in April 1996 out of Kokomo, IN as a 31R, Multi-Channel Transmission System Operator/Maintainer. She later reclassified to 25B, Information Technology Specialist. She now serves as an U.S. Army Nominative Sergeant Major.
She served as a Cyber Center of Excellence (CCoE) NCO Academy Advanced Leader Course (ALC) Senior Small Group Leader and Senior Drill Sergeant for the 15th Signal BDE, Fort Eisenhower (formerly Fort Gordon), GA. She served in multiple First Sergeant positions to include HHC, 3rd BSTB (FWD IZ), 3rd IBCT, 25th ID, F Co 2-27th Infantry Battalion, 3rd IBCT, 25th ID; HHC, 86th Expeditionary Signal Battalion (ESB), A Co 86th ESB, Fort Bliss, TX.
SGM Onugha previously served as the Senior Enlisted Advisor for the U.S. Army Resilience Directorate, Office Deputy Chief of Staff G-1, Pentagon. Cyber Center of Excellence (CCoE) G3/5/7 SGM, U.S. Army Signal School Office Chief of Signal Enlisted Division Proponent SGM, and the Signal Enlisted Development College (SEDC) SGM.
SGM Onugha received various awards and decorations for her service at home and during Operation Iraqi Freedom. She is a recipient of the Honorable Order of Saint Barbara Award and the Bronze Order of Mercury.
SGM Onugha is a graduate of all Army Professional Military Education Courses, including the Nominative Leaders Course at the Army War College. She holds a Masters in Business Management from University of Phoenix, certifications in Master Resilience from Penn State, Resilience Building Leadership Professional-Trainer, and McAfee Certified Executive Leader.
Her personal passions include serving others, road cycling, running, weight-lifting, traveling, and life-long learning.
SGM Onugha is married to CW4 Obinna Onugha and they have one daughter Trinity Onugha, 12 years old.
